What is auction sniping?
Auction sniping means placing your bid in the last few seconds of an auction instead of bidding early. Other bidders get no time to respond, and the price doesn't climb while you wait. You choose your maximum bid; SniperMate handles the timing.
Which auction sites are supported?
SniperMate works with ShopGoodwill.com auctions. It is an independent service, not affiliated with Goodwill Industries or ShopGoodwill.com.
Does SniperMate guarantee a win?
No. If another bidder's maximum is higher, they win. You only use a Snipe Win when your snipe actually wins, so a lost auction costs you nothing.
What happens if I'm outbid?
If another bidder's maximum is higher, the auction goes to them and your snipe is marked as lost on your dashboard. No Snipe Win is used.
Do I need to keep my computer on?
No. SniperMate runs on our servers, so your bid is placed even if your computer is off or you're offline. Schedule the snipe and get on with your day.
When exactly is my bid placed?
A few seconds before the auction closes: late enough that other bidders have no time to respond, with a small margin for the bid to reach ShopGoodwill.
How many auctions can I snipe at once?
As many as you have Snipe Wins for. Each scheduled snipe needs a Snipe Win available, so you can never win more auctions than you've paid for.
Can I change or cancel a scheduled bid?
Yes. Until the bid is placed, you can raise or lower your maximum bid, or delete the snipe, from your dashboard.
Is my ShopGoodwill password safe?
Your ShopGoodwill password is never stored. It is used once to sign in to ShopGoodwill, and only the encrypted sign-in session is kept. You can disconnect it at any time.
How much does it cost?
Creating an account is free and there is no subscription. Snipe Wins come in packs, from $5 for 10, and one is used only when a snipe wins. They never expire. New accounts start with 5 free Snipe Wins.
